Contemporary Mixed Media Framed Canvas Art from the Eternal Afternoon Collection

Made to order in Cape Town · Nationwide delivery

The artwork Nostalgia in Bloom I captures a girl moving through a field of flowers, her hair swept by the wind as the blossoms blur around her. The colours are vivid, yet the moment feels just out of reach—as childhood memories so often do.

Inspired by summers at Les Chênes, Romy’s childhood farm in Franschhoek, the artwork recalls the freedom of afternoons that seemed to last forever. Time had no rhythm then. One hour slipped into another; the light changed, the wind moved through the flowers, and eventually afternoon became evening.

The painterly blur holds onto that feeling rather than fixing every detail. It is a memory of summer you can almost step back into, even knowing you cannot return to it.

Created by Romy Maxime, artist and founder of Republic of Venus, Nostalgia in Bloom I is part of The Eternal Afternoon, a collection about childhood, summer, and the elusive passage of time.

In a living room, its vivid blue sky and sun-warmed flowers bring a burst of colour while inviting viewers into their own half-remembered sensations of childhood: the breeze against their skin, the wind in their hair, and an afternoon that seemed to go on forever.

The artwork is printed on premium canvas and custom framed to order in Cape Town. It is available in a Natural Obeche or Kiaat-Stained Obeche floating frame.
