Contemporary Mixed Media Framed Canvas Art from the Film Noir Collection

Les Trois Femmes III captures a woman with her face gently turned, her eyes closed and her lips softly parted. The angle gives the portrait a sense of movement, as though she has paused between one moment and the next.

Dark lashes, a sharply drawn brow and the curve of her mouth create a rhythm across the composition. Light opens onto the cheek and forehead, while shadow gathers beneath the jaw. Fine grain softens these bold shapes, giving the surface the feeling of a treasured image from another era.

The work reflects artist and founder Romy Maxime’s fascination with cinema, shaped in part by her time studying film. It recalls the close-ups of classic screen portraits, where the smallest gesture—a turned head, a lowered eyelid—could carry an unspoken story.

Through photography and mixed-media composition, that cinematic language takes on a contemporary, graphic form. Black and warm ivory lend the portrait both strength and softness, balancing its dramatic scale with the intimacy of a fleeting expression.

Part of the Les Trois Femmes Collection, this artwork works beautifully on its own or in conversation with the other two portraits. Its flowing contours and vintage glamour bring warmth and presence to a bedroom, living room, dressing room or hospitality interior.

The artwork is printed on premium canvas and custom framed to order in Cape Town. It is available in a Natural Obeche or Kiaat-Stained Obeche floating frame.
